"Amid rising tensions of a nuclear conflict between the United States and North Korea, International Reggae Dancehall Star Melekel is set to release his latest studio album "The Numbers Man" on December 23; thirty years after Reggae Legend Peter Tosh released his 1987 Grammy winning "No Nuclear War" during the heights of the Cold War. The new 10 Track CD is fearless, spirited, relatable and current with a strong emphasis on heavy synth driven rhythms which seems to be the new normal for recent productions coming out of Jamaica."

HOLLYWOOD, Calif. - Dec. 13, 2017 - In 1987, Peter Tosh released his seventh and final recorded album entitled “No Nuclear War,” which was awarded the Grammy for best Reggae album in 1988. The Reggae icon’s last studio album was released during the peak of the Cold War between the United States and the Soviet Union; presently Russia and marked a crucial turning point for Reggae artist involvement in world affairs across the diaspora.

Thirty years after Tosh’s monumental achievement and global plead for no nuclear war, International Reggae and Dancehall Star Melekel is set to drop “The Numbers Man” a new 10 Track CD that includes the fearless and spirited Selloff, Me Own Things, Wicked and Gun Man World among others. The Dancehall Superstar’s album is set to release amidst the real and uncertain danger of a Nuclear War event between Donald Trump’s United States and Kim Jung Ung’s North Korea.

“The Numbers Man” which is sure to garner multiple considerations during award season due to its high content of social commentary; includes the controversial One More Time, a tough and uncompromising track where Melekel directly addresses the ongoing issue of selectors, program managers and radio disc jockeys exercising bias in Dancehall. The realistic true-to-life Panama Bankah projects the braggadocios idea of the existence of a large sum account under the artist’s name in a major bank in Panama City. This is reminiscent of the various world leaders, famous athletes and movie stars; who use the country’s financial institutions as a safe haven for billions of US dollars and were exposed earlier in 2017 during the release of the notorious Panama Papers.

In his new release, Melekel brings an uncanny edge and bravado loved by fans across the Caribbean, North America and Europe. The Album is due to release as a download on December 23, by a Major Label on all digital music platforms, including the artist’s own website www.melekel.com. With high looming expectations, “The Numbers Man” is more likely than other releases in the same category to propel a single onto the Billboard 100 based on a catchy style of Reggae that has blended well with popular modern music.

Although Melekel’s Studio Album does not include a holiday theme track for the Christmas Season, the body of work highlights the realities of a world that once again faces the present threat of Nuclear War and must struggle to move forward into a more positive era, ushered by a musical revolution that began with Peter Tosh thirty years ago. He "wishes his fans a Merry Christmas and a happy New Year."

Face Off by Melekel is quickly becoming a permanent fixture in the International Dancehall and Reggae scene.

Los Angeles, CA, USA (December 3, 2014) — Seldom in life, has an artist come along with the ability to influence multiple generations and bring a certain level of innovation to their genre. In the eighteenth and nineteenth Centuries, during the Classical period in the history of Modern music, we find this statement to be true, not only in theory but also in practice; as Ludwig Van Beethoven demonstrated. Fast-forward to the twentieth century and even the tiny island of Jamaica gave birth to Bob Marley, who continues to have one of the most successful and long lived reigns of dominance any artist has ever had over their respective category; in juxtaposition to the likes of Elvis Presley.

Since 1940, Billboard’s charts have been the standard of excellence by which music professionals and fans alike are able to measure who is hot and who is not, according to sales and radio airplay data from Nielsen Soundscan and BDS. Other factors currently taken into consideration include data from streaming services like YouTube and Vevo. Due to the effectiveness of this digital data collection system, music recordings and their authors are able to have a longer chart life than prior to 1990, when the data was coming directly from radio stations who usually stopped playing a record once the Label no longer was promoting it, therefore causing the songs to fall off the charts faster.

Amongst the privileged albums that skirmish for a coveted spot on the Billboard weekly reggae charts is Face Off by Reggae recording artist Melekel. Released in October of 2014, the album has mustered impressive figures as stated on the National Sales Title Report. According to Joshua P. Friedlander, Vice President of Strategic Data Analysis at RIAA, streaming music services grew 28% in the first half of 2014 to $859 million, versus $673 million for 1H 2013. This category includes revenues from subscription services (such as Rhapsody and paid versions of Spotify, among others), streaming radio service revenues that are distributed by SoundExchange (like Pandora, SiriusXM, and other internet radio), and non-subscription on-demand streaming services (such as YouTube, Vevo, and ad-supported Spotify).

Face Off has experienced a surge in permanent downloads, triggered by factors that can be attributed to market stability and cultural perception. With 53% of women that purchase digital music and 61% of men that subscribe to music services, Melekel has managed to garnish enough support from the 13-17 and 26-35 age groups. Others have inferred that the surge is fueled by a live streamed performance on huskeyradio.com alongside Shinehead, a legend in the dancehall Reggae arena.

The album can be downloaded from all digital retailers worldwide or by visiting the following link: http://bit.ly/15OcbXR. For more information about Melekel visit melekel.com or to schedule an interview contact Ann Jordan, Publicist at (323) 331-1608 or via E-mail: newspr@melekel.com

Indie Artist No More: Reggae Recording Artist Melekel

According to industry analyst, in order for a genre of music to become part of world culture it must remain relevant for at least 100 years. Many would argue that the genre of music known as Reggae, created in the Caribbean island of Jamaica, is on pace to achieve this honor. The rich legacy of music and sounds left by the likes of Bob Marley and Peter Tosh, continues to propel artist like Lee Scratch Perry, Ziggy Marley, Gyptian, Shaggy, Sean Paul and other recent contributors such as Chronix, Melekel, Jo Mersa (grandson of Bob Marley) Wayne Marshal and many more to higher levels of global musical achievement.

In a time when label executives have high expectations for hit music recordings, former Island DefJam and Interscope Recording artist Melekel is poised to deliver; and in anticipation of releasing his new album “Face Off” on a Major Label, is offering fans a new video entitled “The Jump Off” in late August 2014, directed by LB. “The song makes reference to an Urban culture predominant in most inner cities of the world, ruled by chaos overseen by the police, which is evident in the way officers have no apparent set protocol for dealing with young men of African descent in America; other than shoot to kill“ said sources close to the entertainer.

According to lyrics in the song: “lawless urban youths love Reggae, Dancehall, Hip Hop, Jungle, Drum and Bass; every day twice a day want to live like Scarface,” sound like a personal dictionary definition of the song’s punch line and somewhat of a cultural stereotype. “The Jump Off” will be released over a range of networks based on the targeted legion selected by the entertainer’s camp. These networks include established streaming giants such as: VEVO, Muzu, Dailymotion, and VidZone (Playstation) to name a few.

Melekel is an artist like others from a variety of formats that is reaping the benefits of a recent surge in global popularity and an overall, strong demand for people downloading and streaming hits. Having toured with the likes of Grammy award-winning musicians and the former lead singer of a British Reggae band, he is set to make “Face Off” available to the public on October 31, 2014.

Billboard (http://www.billboard.com/biz/articles/news/legal-and-management/6041328/nielsens-q1-numbers-sales-down-streams-up) has reported Nielsen SoundScan 2014 first quarter numbers and on-demand streaming continues to rise, eating into sales. According to Nielsen BDS data, interactive music and video streaming totaled 34.28 billion streams in the first quarter of the year, versus 25.44 billion streams in 2013’s corresponding period. Not only have streams grown by nearly 9 billion, but per-stream payout has improved this year versus last year, according to label sales executives.

If you had 100 Peanut Butter Cookies, all warm and chewy, but 125 individuals wanted your delicious tasty treats, it is very likely that you would not be able to keep any of your masterpieces to yourself, nor would you be the least concerned about it, if you made a living as a baker; but then came along competition and changed things a bit, thereby making marketing your cookies a main priority.

In a world built on the shoulders of industrialization, supply and demand continue to be at the core of international commerce and for the Recording Industry of America, the market continues to offer talent that is representative of world culture, amidst a sea of endless possibilities.

Independent surveys show that 65% of those who opted to participate agreed, that the most popular music in the United States is Hip Hop, while 35% were inclined to agree that Reggae is the most powerful music on the scene. Although the recent dismissal of Jamaican Reggae and Dancehall Artist Sean Paul from Atlantic Records is a surprise to many, the music Industry continues to buzz about the upcoming release of Face Off by International Reggae Recording Artist Melekel.

The Album has been called the next big thing and is heralded as a remarkable achievement by insider analysts. Fresh, new and exciting, a shot of adrenaline into the blood stream of Reggae and Dancehall; innovative, catchy and bold, a crystal clear voice reminiscent of the way The Wailers were able to articulate hit after hit using a refined form of their Jamaican patois. The efficient and effective manner, in which the project was orchestrated, has garnished great reviews and catapulted this full length release into the mainstream market.

Press publications around the world that have covered Melekel all agree, that the former Island DefJam and Interscope Gold Recording Artist "is like others from a variety of formats that is reaping the benefits of a recent surge in global popularity and an overall strong demand for people downloading and streaming hits."

Former Island DefJam and Interscope Recording Artist Melekel Releases "Face Off" Album
After five Singles with the majors and a Gold record for Desperado

Living in an age of music proliferation it becomes of great artistic importance to offer listeners a high level of musical and visual content, thereby offering the public a greater experience in value. Such is the daunting task of the 21st Century recording artist and although the world continues to evolve; as humans, we still face off with some of the very same issues that have plagued mankind since the beginning of time.

Face Off is a microscopic attempt by an artist of our generation to address some of these issues in the most proactive and simple way know to the artist; through the arts. In this case, the art is Music and the artist is Reggae Recording Star Melekel; born and raised in Panama, a Caribbean nation famous for one of the Seven Wonders of the World, the Panama Canal.

The culmination of a four year journey into a land of sleepless nights and tempered days, driven not by bread or Hollywood diets, but an inspiration that has translated into a mirage of oasis, depicted in each track of the work. The Album is set for release October 31, 2014 but fans will be able to be amongst the first to download the record by choosing to Pre-Order Face Off on iTunes beginning October 3, 2014.

Overall, the songs contained within the body of work are well crafted and demand attention from listeners immediately upon introduction. Lovely, Bubble and Wine, and Hard to find are standout favorites as they present audiences with a softer gentler delivery from the Panamanian toaster. Some of the songs have been previously delivered in video format but were not available for download to fans until now and can be seen on Melekel.com, VEVO, YouTube and Muzu TV. Such examples include Stop Snitchin, Bedroom Champion, and most recently The Jump Off.

A world class performer, Melekel exposes followers to this aspect of his talent in the song Bella, a Spanish version of Lovely, very reminiscent of Reggae’s humble beginnings of love and oneness; from a human relationship standpoint. Then, the widely popular Desperado, originally released through Interscope Records, earned Gold and continues to be an international favorite. The party anthem Clubbin is a smooth collaboration of Reggae and Hip Hop that brings to life an otherwise ordinary social affair like going to a nightclub.

"There were things that had to be said and could only be said in the context in which it was done" said the author. Ultimately, this CD will make you move, groove and remember that "One good thing about music, when it hits you feel no pain."

Reggae Artist Agrees to Terms of Major Distribution and Publishing Deal

Melekel agrees to terms of a new major distribution and publishing Deal, on the heels of his 2012 Interscope Records gold selling single "Desperado."

Melekel Plugged and Uncut
PRLog - Jul. 12, 2013 - LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- On the heels of a 2012 Gold selling Interscope Records release, reggae artist "Melekel" has agreed to the terms of a major Distribution and Publishing deal.

As we are told by the artist's representatives: "the Deal offers a more favorable scenario for the Panama born reggae vocalist and producer."  Unlike the previous "360" deal offered by Universal, which required the artist to surrender rights to most of the music and his brand, this Deal is one of epic proportions that will carry a positive ripple effect and surely energize an already exciting and thriving music genre.

Under the so called 360 deals, labels are prone to invest in increasing the value of an artist's image in order to sell more merchandise and consequently sell more records.  Due in part to the "New Age" digital revolution which has overtaken the business; many music industry insiders agree that it became imperative for labels to sign artist on the basis of their marketability, crossover appeal, and looks; still in most cases little if any attention is given to the quality and standard of the music content.

The terms of the Deal to which Melekel has agreed are an artful masterpiece, so to speak.  It centers around the importance of the marketing and promotion of the art form.  It offers the standard world wide digital distribution and the still most important in store distribution, augmented by Television, and Radio opportunities in addition to other indispensable amenities.

The Interscope Records 2012 gold selling single "Desperado" with its motto "Desperate times call for desperate measures" continues to eco around the four corners of the Earth's Dancehall arena.  "Desperado" and the mainstream follow up "Bedroom Champion" are both available on iTunes, google play, and all major digital music outlets.

"I give thanks for life and all things made" where the words uttered by Melekel when we asked him how it felt to seal such an epic deal for his career.  An experienced musician with many years in the music industry, Melekel has toured with Grammy Award winner Jr "one blood" Reid in addition to headlining his own "In da hood" U.S. tour in 2011.

The undeniable high dose of reality and cultural lyrics, along with a very catchy and fitting rhythm, inspired a song that people from all around the world are feeling and dancing without inhibitions.  Recorded, mixed, and mastered by seasoned engineers in Los Angeles California, the entertainment capital of the world,  Desperado by Melekel continues to climb the charts.

With subliminal messages in music, artist exercise their will to reach as many people as possible and Melekel is no exception; as verse 1 of Desperado states: “hold on, enough of them fast and they’re furious if they could live life without crime am curious, better yet they step up into the studio, and create a new dance step or write a hit song and blow up.”  Words that challenge some and encourage all through self-help, and the acquisition of skills through education.

Free Buju Banton single release by MELEKEL on Island DefJam

genre: Reggae
additional genre: Dancehall
Description of Song:

In a spirit of Dancehall fraternity towards fellow Reggae Roots artist Buju Banton (Mark Myrie) whom has been detained in a Florida Federal Facility since late 2009; Melekel has released a single titled "Free Buju Banton" on Island Def Jam Digital Distribution. The single was written and produced by Melekel "To eco what fans around the world feel, they want to see Buju free" says the Panamanian born Dancehall Reggae Phenom.

To date this writer has heard three good renditions honoring the captive Rastafarian soldier from artist such as Anthony B, Sizzla and now Melekel.

The video makes a comparison between slavery and the present day prison system, driven by images that capture one of the most evil acts if not the most in World history; the captivity and further enslavement of a Nation of people.  Although a sensitive issue the video is made in good taste with the point getting across from the first clip.  With an up tempo beat, catchy hook and on time delivery the single is a definite club banger.
